Train crashes into station near New York, many people injured and killed

Pictures posted by passengers on Twitter showed the impact causing the ceiling of the terminal to collapse, trapping people. Several newspapers reported “severe damage” and “many injuries”.
NJT confirmed the accident occurred on one of its passenger trains, but did not provide any casualties.
According to RT, initial reports said "there were about 100 victims". Hospitals in the area have now been mobilized. CNN also quoted sources saying that many people were injured.
Bhagyesh Shad, a passenger sitting in car 2, said the train hurtled towards the platform and hit a pillar, causing the ceiling to collapse on the train.
"It only lasted a few seconds but it felt like an eternity. I saw a woman rolling under the concrete. A lot of people were bleeding, one person was crying loudly."
Shah also said passengers in his compartment smashed the emergency exit window to escape.
