According to published information, warships of the countries were divided into 3 groups to conduct exercises in the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea. |
Vietnam's 011-Dinh Tien Hoang ship is part of Group 2, along with 9 ships from Canada, France, Japan, Pakistan, South Korea, the Philippines, and the US USS Coronado ship, conducting exercises in the South China Sea. Japan's Izumo-class ship 183 commands Group 2. |
During the exercise, Group 2 at times split into two tactical groups. Ship 011 belonged to Tactical Group 1 with the Singaporean ship Stalwart; the Japanese helicopter carrier 183 and destroyer Sazanami 113, Takanami class; and the Malaysian ship KD Lekir 26. |
In addition to maneuvering in formation, the ships combined electronic coding and decoding exercises, flag communications, light photography according to the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES), and aerial photography of the formation. |
According to the training content, the command ship will provide the electric codes to the ships in the formation to decode and respond in the fastest time. This activity helps to improve common understanding between the navies of the countries. |
