Train crashes into car, splitting it in two; several carriages derail.

After the collision split the truck in two as it crossed the railway tracks, the locomotive was severed, and three carriages derailed. In addition to the train driver who died, three other people were injured.

At approximately 9:41 PM on March 10th, the SE5 train, traveling from North to South, collided with a truck crossing a level crossing at kilometer 639 between Quang Tri and Dien Sanh.

The powerful collision caused two passenger carriages and a service carriage to derail and suffer severe damage. The locomotive detached from the train, continuing for another kilometer before stopping, and the train driver died in the cabin.

At the scene, the dump truck was split in two, lying on either side of the railway tracks. The train carriage derailed and lay almost perpendicular to National Highway 1, which was under construction nearby. The dump truck driver and two passengers on the train sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

"I was talking to passengers when I heard a very loud 'crash,' everything in the carriage fell over, and everyone panicked. Some male passengers then used hard objects to break the train windows to get people out," said Do Thuy Hang, a staff member in carriage number 2, who was injured in the arm.

Nearly a hundred police officers were deployed to the scene. Passengers were transferred to the rear carriages to be towed to Quang Tri station, about 10 km away.
