NATO ships in the Black Sea are being “squeezed by Russia”
NATO ships enter the Black Sea under the close control of the Russian fleet, coastal defense services and within sight of missiles deployed in Crimea. Russia does this simply to "squeeze NATO ships," Russian Major General Sergey Lipovoy said.

Mr. Lipovoy commented on the presence of NATO destroyers in the Black Sea. The expert believes that this is not a provocation, since any serious violation of Russian territorial waters will have serious consequences for the NATO fleet.
“Russia owns the Black Sea, other ships can be in this area for only 21 days under the close control of the fleet, the coastal defense service and within the range of missiles deployed in Crimea. So, in fact, we are just “tightening” the NATO destroyer,” General Lipovoy said.
Lipovoy linked recent events to the escalation of tensions on the part of NATO, and above all, the United States, towards Russia. “All this is a chain: recognition of the Israeli Golan Heights, rhetorical pressure on Russia over Venezuela, discussion of new sanctions against Russia, as well as the presence of NATO ships in the Black Sea. In this way, the United States is trying to demonstrate its support for Ukraine in connection with the elections on Sunday,” Lipovoy concluded.
