The US Navy announced that the nuclear-powered attack submarine USS Michigan docked at the South Korean port of Busan last weekend as part of Washington's rotational deployment of military assets to the region, according to Business Insider.

However, based on the analysis of photos of this submarine at the port, military experts said that the USS Michigan seems to be carrying the US Navy SEAL task force. The upper part of the ship appears to have two underwater vehicles (SDV) specialized for frogmen of this elite task force.

Earlier, Yonhap quoted an anonymous defense source as saying that a US special forces unit tasked with "destroying enemy leadership" had been deployed to a US nuclear attack submarine to participate in exercises with the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier group in waters off the Korean peninsula.

In March, the US Navy also sent SEAL Team 6 to participate in two annual joint exercises, Foal Eagle and Key Resolve, with the South Korean military. During the exercises, SEAL Team 6 practiced infiltration, eliminating the enemy's command system and destroying important military facilities.

The SEALs are an elite, rapid-reaction naval force, suited to all areas of special warfare, able to receive instant orders when crises erupt around the world.

SEALs are professionally trained soldiers with high combat capabilities in extremely harsh environments such as raiding and destroying high-value targets, direct combat, special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism and protection inside diplomatic agencies abroad.
