US nuclear aircraft carrier approaches Syria
The US aircraft carrier Harry Truman was deployed to the Mediterranean, the sea where it launched airstrikes against IS in Syria.

The US Navy's USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier, carrying 5,000 crew members, passed through the Strait of Gibraltar and headed toward the eastern Mediterranean on the evening of November 15.Sputnikyesterday cited data from the international Automatic Identification System (AIS).
Observers said the eastern Mediterranean Sea was also where the Truman was deployed so its fighters could conduct airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria in April.
Previously, the USS Harry Truman docked in Lisbon, Portugal for four days to participate in the 100th anniversary celebrations of the end of World War I. During this time, the crew was allowed to visit Lisbon's landmarks as well as participate in various cultural events.
Commissioned in 1998, the USS Harry Truman has been used in various US campaigns around the world, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The ship has a displacement of 104,000 tons and is capable of carrying 90 fighter planes of various types.
