US aircraft carrier Carl Vinson enters waters near North Korea
A US aircraft carrier entered the Sea of Japan today after North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile but failed.

The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson has passed through the strait.Tsushima, between southwestern Japan and Korea, enters the Sea of Japan,Kyodoreport
Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) said this ship and Japanese warships werecompleted the exercise early this afternoon. Carl Vinsonplanned to conduct joint exercises with the South Korean navy.
The US carrier group previously conducted a series of joint exercises with the MSDF and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF).
North Korea launched a ballistic missile early this morning but it is believed to have failed.The type launched could be the KN-17 medium-range ballistic missile, a solid-fuel missile, launched from a mobile launcher.The South Korean military said the missile reached an altitude of 71 km before exploding. WeaponsThis fell on land in North Korean territory.
