The Hyperloop train runs in a vacuum tube using an electromagnetic system and takes just over 10 minutes to complete the 140 km distance between the two UAE cities.

Each train compartment can carry 10 passengers.

Virgin Hyperloop One has unveiled a prototype of a pod designed to reach speeds of 1,200 km/h while gliding down a Hyperloop track connecting Dubai to Abu Dhabi, according toLive Science. The 140km journey takes 90 minutes by car, but the Hyperloop will cut that time to 12 minutes thanks to its advanced track, a long tube that has been emptied of air to create a vacuum.

In partnership with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Virgin unveiled its pod, which accelerates using an electromagnetic propulsion system inside a vacuum tube, at Invention Week in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 22. The company is planning to put three more Hyperloop systems into operation by 2021.

Each pod can carry 10 passengers. According to preliminary studies, the Hyperloop from Dubai to Abu Dhabi could carry 10,000 passengers per hour in both directions.

Because of the high speed of the Hyperloop, passengers will have to wear seat belts. “There will be no windows in the capsule. But there will be interactive entertainment screens on the armrests of the seats,” said Abdulredha Abu Alhassan, director of Railway Planning and Project Development at the RTA. The Hyperloop system fits perfectly into the RTA’s goal of making 25 percent of the country’s transport autonomous by 2030.
