America's cutting-edge probe lands on Mars

America's most advanced rover, Curiosity, landed on the surface of the "red planet" yesterday, carrying out one of the most daring space missions in history.

The Curiosity rover's mission is to find out whether the Martian environment can support life.

After nearly 9 months, traveling 570 million km from Earth, the Curiosity spacecraft plunged into the Martian atmosphere at a speed of up to 21,240 km/h, before landing in a basin called Gale on the planet's surface with the help of a supersonic parachute.

At a cost of up to 2.5 billion USD, Curiosity is one of NASA's most modern and expensive space exploration projects. This autonomous probe weighs nearly 1 ton, which is nearly five times the size of previous Mars rovers, and is also more than twice as large.

The landing of Curiosity on the surface of Mars was an event that attracted great attention from American and world scientists, because in this event, NASA tested a completely new landing technique. Due to the delay of the signal from Curiosity to Earth, the device landed in fully automatic mode and during the descent, it performed a series of difficult acrobatics.

The Curiosity rover was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida (USA) on November 26, 2011. It is equipped with many advanced machines, including a machine that shoots lasers at rocks, with the mission of finding out whether the Martian environment can support life or not.
