Coach Luis Enrique's team caused a big surprise when they beat the reigning World Cup runner-up by a tennis score.

Spain 6-0 Croatia

Goals: Niguez 23', Asensio 33', Kalinic 35' own goal, Rodrigo 49', Ramos 57', Isco 70'

Starting with a near-full strength squad, Croatia did not look like they were going to suffer a heavy defeat against Spain. Luka Modric and his teammates had even more chances in the opening 15 minutes. The Spanish net could have been shaken early on if Ivan Rakitic had not fired a shot just wide of the goal, and Ivan Perisic had succeeded in a one-on-one with goalkeeper David de Gea.

But things changed after Spain opened the scoring in the 24th minute. This was the result of a very improvised combination, when Dani Carvajal flicked the ball into the penalty area for Saul Niguez to jump high and head the ball into the Croatian net. In the 33rd minute, Marco Asensio unexpectedly shot with his left foot from 27 meters away, making the score 2-0. Less than two minutes later, the young Real Madrid star continued to shoot from a distance, causing the ball to hit the crossbar, bounce off the back of goalkeeper Kalinic and fall into the goal, giving Spain a third goal.

Conceding three goals easily, Croatia collapsed mentally. The defense of the current World Cup runner-up team became unfocused, while the attack lost the sharpness to overcome the central defender pair Sergio Ramos - Nacho.

Modric could not believe what happened to Croatia during their away match in Spain.

On the other hand, thanks to a relaxed spirit, Spain maintained their attack and won a big victory. In the 49th minute, the gap became 4-0 after Rodrigo broke the offside trap and finished one-on-one with Kalinic.

Sergio Ramos also got on the scoreboard when he made his signature header from a corner kick in the 57th minute. Even with the substitution, Spain did not lose their effectiveness. In the 70th minute, Isco sealed the victory with a diagonal shot from inside the penalty area.

This is Spain's second consecutive win in Group 4 of Nations League A, after defeating hosts England 2-1. With a perfect start, Luis Enrique's team is currently in first place with six full points.
