Tehran denies news that Iranian officers will operate S-300 in Syria
The Syrian army has enough skills to control Russian S-300 air defense missile systems and does not need outside help, General of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Ismail Kausari told Sputnik.

The delivery of the S-300s is Russia's response to the tragedy of the Russian IL-20 plane crash in the skies over Syria, Moscow holds Israel responsible for airstrikes in Syria. In early October, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that four S-300 complexes had been delivered to the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR), and local troops would be trained to operate them for three months.
Earlier, the Israeli news portal DEBKAfile, citing a certain source, said that Iranian specialists will operate the S-300 complexes that have been delivered to Syria.
The Israeli news portal's announcement is a complete fabrication. The Syrian army has the skills and capabilities to operate the S-300 complex itself. Syria does not need assistance in managing and operating the complex," Kausari said.
“Of course, the Syrians have close cooperation with Russia, which has supplied them with these complexes,” he added.
Kausari recalled that during the war with Iraq, some Iranian officers were sent to Syria for missile training.
"The Syrians have more experience than the Iranians in using Russian weapons, and they were previously transferred to them by the Soviet Union," the general noted.
