Mysterious robber returns 100 million VND with an apology letter

On the morning of February 1, Major Le Dinh Hung, Chief of An Phu Ward Police, Thuan An Town, Binh Duong Province, said that a rare robbery had just occurred in the ward.

Specifically, at 1:30 p.m. on January 28, Ms. Phan Thi Bich Tuyen (25 years old, from An Giang) was riding a motorbike through An Phu ward when a young man on a motorbike approached her and snatched her bag.

In the bag were 107 million VND and 2 phones (Iphone X and Iphone 6). Ms. Tuyen chased the robber but could not catch up. Immediately after that, she went to An Phu Ward Police to report the incident.

Unexpectedly, on January 29, the authorities discovered that someone had thrown a plastic bag in front of the An Phu Ward People's Committee. Upon checking inside, everyone was surprised to find 100 million VND, along with 2 phones and a letter from the robber.

100 million VND and 2 phones were returned to the victim by the ward People's Committee.

The letter says:"Dear An Phu Ward Committee, Today there was a robbery in the area and I was the one who caused it. I really regret what I did and I am really shocked by the amount of property I robbed. Perhaps now the person I robbed is very sad and miserable. It's just because I borrowed money from black credit and couldn't pay it back. It was only a few million, the interest kept going up every day, they called and texted all day, I couldn't stand it.

They also threatened to send someone to the debt collection office, and my wife had just given birth to a 3-month-old baby girl. If they had come, my wife would have died. So I decided to rob her, get the money to pay off the debt, and this afternoon I robbed a woman of a backpack. I didn't expect the amount to be so large. They must have needed the money for something, that's why they brought so much money.

All afternoon I was tormented with remorse. And how could I face my little child, and the person who was robbed, they also needed money, why did I do that, so I wrote a letter to you, hoping you would return the property I stole from them, and the backpack after I took the phone and money, I threw it in the trash when I came back to look for it but couldn't find it. I took a little of the entire amount to pay off my debt. Later I will definitely return it to society.

And I hope everyone will open their arms to forgive this sinner and I send my sincere apologies to the person I robbed. I hope you will return the property to the person who helped me. Thank you.".

Major Hung said all the stolen property has been returned to the victim. Up to now, the robber's identity remains a mystery.
