The method of the robbers was to use motorbikes to chase the buses, overtake them, and then turn 180 degrees to block the front of the bus. One of the robbers had a tattoo on his right arm...

This group of robbers often uses motorbikes to follow and block passenger buses on National Highway 1A in deserted sections. Then they use sharp knives to control the driver to rob his property. If the driver does not "comply" with the request, the knife is immediately put to his neck... Passengers sitting on the bus witnessing the reckless and daring acts of the robbers are all afraid to call the police immediately for fear of being intimidated by them, including the driver and the owner of the bus. Therefore, in most robberies, the victim only reports to the investigation agency three days later.

Subject: Dau Xuan Phuong

While the Criminal Investigation Agency (Dien Chau District Police) was collecting documents and investigating to arrest the above-mentioned reckless and dangerous robbers, another similar robbery case occurred in the district. At around 4:30 p.m. on July 24, the criminal police officer on duty at Dien Chau District Police received a report from a driver named Hung, stating: At 4:00 p.m. on the same day, Mr. Hung was driving a 16-seat car with license plate number 16M-7273 carrying tourists from Vinh to Hai Phong. When passing through the center of Dien Chau district about 4 km to the North, two young men on a motorbike overtook him, blocked him in front of the car, threatened him with a knife and robbed Mr. Hung of 500,000 VND.

Upon receiving the report, the Dien Chau District Police Department established Project 716C to investigate and solve the case. It is believed that the group of people responsible for the robbery of Mr. Hung and the two previous robberies of bus drivers are the same.

With the determination to quickly investigate, clarify, and arrest the criminals, to serve the expansion of the investigation and clarification of previous robbery cases, on the night of July 24, the Investigation Police Agency of Dien Chau District Police sent a working group of 2 detectives to Hai Phong City to meet the victim. In addition, the Special Task Force also sent 4 detectives from the Criminal Police Team to screen the suspects, focusing on drug addicts, vagabonds... subjects under the management and monitoring of the District Police.

Subject Cao Dinh Ha

In Hai Phong, after 1 day, the working group met the victim, Mr. Pham Duy Hung (born in 1969), residing in Du Hang Kenh ward, Le Chan district, Hai Phong city.

Mr. Hung was still in shock: “That day, I drove to Dien Ngoc commune and discovered two young men on a motorbike passing me, weaving in and out, as if trying to force my passenger car to the side of the road. Thinking that this was a group of young men playing around on the road, I moved to the right side of the road to prevent an accident.

When I drove to Dien Ky commune (Dien Chau), I discovered that the two young men continued to chase after the car and then overtook it. Because the person sitting behind used a shirt to cover the license plate, the number could not be read. When they reached a deserted area, the two young men stopped the motorbike in front of my car and jumped into the cockpit, using a knife to control and rob me. They said they needed money to buy crystal meth, please give me a few hundred, as soon as they finished speaking, one of them put a knife to my neck, glared at me and robbed me of 500,000 VND in cash, then quickly left the car. The two young men were quite young, about 22 years old, one of them was tall, handsome, with tattoos of animals on his right arm..." Mr. Hung recounted.

Evidence of the case

Based on the victim’s testimony, the Criminal Police Department sent detectives and investigators to search for the young man with the tattoo on his right arm. After screening, there were 17 subjects with the above characteristics, of which 6 subjects with tattoos on both arms, even on the stomach and back were removed from the list of suspects. The rest were screened and compared with the time of their presence in the locality.

After this "decoding", the detectives found that in Dien Ngoc commune, there were 3 subjects with tattoos on their arms, in which subject Dau Xuan Phuong was identified as the number one suspect.

Phuong is a drug addict, in addition to having tattoos on his right arm, he also has characteristics similar to those described by the victims: tall, handsome... From then on, all of Phuong's movements were of special interest to the detectives in the special investigation team. There was one detail that interested the special investigation team, which was that Phuong had tattoos on his arm as described by the victims.

During the investigation and information collection process, the Task Force found that Phuong had many details related to the robbery of a driver in Hai Phong.

On July 26, after collecting sufficient evidence, combined with the victim's testimony, the Investigation Police Agency of Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province executed an emergency arrest warrant for Dau Xuan Phuong (born in 1994), residing in Dien Ngoc Commune, Dien Chau District, for robbery to serve the investigation.

From Phuong's testimony, the task force arrested Cao Dinh Ha (born in 1996), residing in Dien Tan commune (Dien Chau district) for robbery. These two subjects are heavily addicted to drugs, living a vagrant life, and taking people everywhere for pleasure. The seized evidence included a SIRIUS motorbike, a sharp knife, the means and tools used to commit the crime, and two cell phones. At the investigation agency, both subjects confessed to having robbed driver Pham Duy Hung on July 24.

After 4 days of fighting, Phuong and Hai continued to admit that they had previously used weapons to block a passenger bus on Highway 1A and successfully carried out 2 robberies of the drivers' property.

Currently, Dien Chau District Police have initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused, and issued a decision to temporarily detain two subjects, Dau Xuan Phuong and Cao Dinh Ha, for robbery. The case is currently being expanded and handled according to the provisions of law.
