This year, homemade food is king
(Baonghean.vn) - Most homemade foods are priced higher than the average price sold in markets but are still popular with many people, especially office workers. Many consumers accept to pay higher prices to use products with guaranteed quality.
Never before has homemade food been so abundant and diverse as it is today, especially during these extremely busy days before Tet. It is not difficult to find advertisements for homemade food and country specialties when walking around the “online markets”.
About a month before Tet, the homemade food trend has started to heat up. Housewives eagerly share on Facebook easy-to-make dishes that are suitable for Tet such as banh chung, gio cha, jams, dried beef... Most of the people who sell homemade food are small-scale, because they often sell through friends, family, acquaintances... and are "certified" by seeing and hearing.

As Tet approaches, the number of customers buying coconut jam increases, making Ms. Nhat H's work overloaded. |
Two months before Tet, Ms. Nguyen Nhat H (Vinh City) decided to make coconut jam to sell during this Tet holiday. Making jam by hand not only satisfies her hobby, but is also meaningful and safe to use. Tet jam is one of the most popular foods during Tet, and is easy to make. Ms. H added that her initial customers were mainly friends and people in her husband's office. Gradually, her products became known to many people. This job brings her a significant income in her spare time.
In the current era of unclear origin of Tet food still flooding everywhere, along with economic difficulties requiring reduced spending, many families have returned to the stage of "self-sufficiency" to find delicious and clean food... This is also an opportunity for many housewives and young people to show their talents and exchange cooking experiences, while also earning extra income during Tet.

In addition to traditional foods for Tet, products with new ingredients and processing methods are also very attractive to customers. Understanding the psychology of many customers wanting to have a "unique" dish to treat guests on Tet, Ms. Ngoc T (Con Cuong) brought her family's favorite dish to Facebook to introduce. It is wild boar meat soaked in fish sauce, but Ms. T changed the name to "ethnic pork soaked in fish sauce" to make it sound more unique. After a while, customers from all over the province contacted to order, so she expanded her business.
Ms. Ngoc T added: “Although the price of pickled wild boar meat is quite high (VND 300,000/kg), this dish is quite unique so customers ask to buy it a lot. Each time, I make 15-20kg, depending on the amount of meat. In addition to wild boar, I also sell other regional specialties such as wild chicken, beef, etc. to serve during Tet.”
Ms. An H (owner of a cosmetics store in Vinh City) recently also sells ham made in her hometown. In addition to product introduction images, she regularly posts customer feedback on the products. “I want to receive more opinions from customers to both improve my products and create trust in customers. That is also the clearest proof of the quality of the products I make,” Ms. An H shared.

However, not everyone is lucky enough to find a "conscientious" seller. Ms. HB said: "Last year, I ordered beef jerky from a friend on Facebook. Seeing that many people ordered it and the price was quite affordable, I ordered 2kg. But when I received the product and tried it, I realized it was fake pork and beef jerky."
Convenience is a special strength for homemade food to prevail, especially in times when everyone is busy with work outside of society, cooking time for the family becomes more limited. Making your own food for Tet not only ensures food hygiene and safety but can also help women earn more income.
However, housewives should research and choose reputable addresses to avoid "losing money and getting sick" during Tet holidays.
