(Baonghean.vn) - This year, the Mong and Khmu ethnic minority communities and the Hua Na hydropower resettlement areas in Que Phong district (Nghe An) celebrated Tet earlier than usual. The event was organized by the local government, so the people had a more prosperous and warm Tet.

On the Tet holiday dedicated to Mong and Kho Mu villages in Tri Le and Nam Nhoong communes, 10 Mong villages and 6 Kho Mu villages were celebrated early by local authorities with traditional folk games.

The festive atmosphere filled the village. Despite the heavy rain, many people in the resettlement village of Muong Hinh, Dong Van commune still excitedly invited each other to celebrate Tet early.

Mong boys and girls throw pao, a traditional spring game of the highland ethnic groups.

Cockfighting is a game that attracts the attention of the players. Hundreds of people gather around the arena. The humorous voice of the commentator also makes the competition more exciting.

Gongs are an indispensable part of the spring festival. The thunderous sound of gongs resounds and the village seems to awaken after a long winter.

The sound of gongs and drums combined with the rhythms of the bamboo poles and the carvings of the beds create a truly unique choir that can only be found in the "nine villages, ten muongs" region.

Gifts from local authorities have contributed to encouraging the spirit of communities during the coming Tet holiday.

Early Tet is also an occasion to honor village elders, people who are prestigious in maintaining lifestyle as well as security and order in the community.

The attention through activities such as the early Tet for the people in the highlands is a practical activity with spiritual encouragement. Because currently the life of the highland communities in Que Phong district is still facing many difficulties. Especially in the resettlement villages in the three communes of Dong Van, Thong Thu and Tien Phong, people have not been granted land or the right to use land for production, and their daily rice still depends mainly on the supply from the hydropower project.
