(Baonghean.vn) - In the final days of the year, people in the coastal villages of Quynh Di (Hoang Mai town) are bustling with activity as anchovy fishing season approaches, also known as black anchovy or black scad. The colder the weather, the better the catch, and a prosperous Tet holiday is coming for the people of the coastal villages.

Outdoor temperatureThe past few days have only been in the range of 10-15.oDespite the thick fog, fishermen at the docks were still busily unloading fish ashore. The anchovies were mainly sourced from Lach Quen port (Tien Thuy commune) and Quynh Lap dock, then transported to Quynh Di.

In the communeQuynh Di has 10 anchovy steaming facilities.The dried anchovies are exported to the Chinese market and consumed domestically, creating jobs for nearly 1000 workers. The anchovy fishing season runs from the beginning of September (lunar calendar) to the end of February (lunar calendar).

After being steamed, the anchovies are dried, the heads are separated from the bodies, and then stored in cold storage for year-round sale.

This year's anchovy harvest is bountiful, according to Ly's facility.The paint processing facility handles up to 80 tons a day with 75 workers. In addition, other facilities such as Trinh Quyet and Ba Mai also employ nearly 100 workers who work all day.

Besides processing anchovies for export, the facilities also utilize spoiled fish and fish heads that are separated from the fish to sell as feed for livestock.

Besides exporting to the Chinese market, anchovies are also purchased directly from farms by businesses for resale throughout the province and beyond.
