Thach Kim Tuan seeks ticket to 2016 Olympics at world weightlifting tournament
Today, the hope of Vietnamese sports, Thach Kim Tuan, will compete in an important tournament, the 2015 World Weightlifting Championship.
The 2015 World Weightlifting Championships took place from November 19 to 28 in Houston, USA. This was the tournament that decided the number of athletes from countries around the world who won tickets to the 2016 Olympics.
The Vietnamese weightlifting team participated in this year's tournament with the goal of maintaining the 21st place in the world that the team won last year because this position will help Vietnamese weightlifters get three tickets to the 2016 Olympics.
7 Vietnamese athletes participating in this tournament include 5 male athletes (Thach Kim Tuan, Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan, Tran Le Quoc Toan, Nguyen Hong Ngoc, Hoang Tan Tai) and 2 female athletes (Vuong Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thi Thuy).
Among these athletes, the number one hope for Vietnamese weightlifting will of course be Thach Kim Tuan, the athlete who won 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals in the men's 56kg category at the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships, in which he holds the Asian record in the snatch category with a result of 135kg. The best total result that Tuan achieved in his career is 296kg.

If he can maintain this record, Tuan has a very high chance of winning a medal. However, to do that will be a difficult challenge for the Binh Thuan athlete because his back and knee injuries have not yet fully recovered and Kim Tuan's performance in the US is still a question mark. Joining Kim Tuan in the men's 56kg category is young athlete Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan, an athlete who won a silver medal at the Youth Olympics, but Anh Tuan's chances of competing for a medal are not high.
The main opponents of the two athletes named Tuan in this event will still be familiar athletes such as Om Yun Chol (Olympic, Asiad and World Champion), Chinese athletes - Wu Jingbiao and Ling Qingquan.
In addition to the men's 56kg category, Vietnam's chances of winning a medal in this tournament can also depend on Vuong Thi Huyen, the athlete competing in the women's 48kg category. This athlete won 2 gold medals at the Asian Games in September.
