The 2024 FIFA Congress held in Thailand will be an opportunity for FIFA members from 211 football federations around the world to nominate themselves to host the World Cup and propose candidates for the position of FIFA President.

Thailand has been selected by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to host the 2024 FIFA Congress, scheduled to take place on May 17, 2024 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, said Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, head of the Thailand Fairs and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
This will be the 74th annual congress of FIFA but the first time it will be held in a country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The 2024 FIFA Congress is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 delegates from around the world.
This is an opportunity for FIFA members from 211 football associations around the world to nominate themselves to host the FIFA World Cup and propose candidates for the FIFA President position. In addition, the congress will also choose the host country for the 2027 Women's World Cup.
Thai officials hope the 2024 FIFA Congress will build trust and enhance Thailand's reputation as a host country for a global event in line with the government's goals.
The event also paves the way for Thailand to showcase itself as a potential host country of the FIFA World Cup by coordinating with other ASEAN countries to become co-hosts, because one of FIFA's requirements for a country to host the FIFA World Cup is that the country has previously hosted the FIFA Congress./.
