Thailand restricts cheap tours
In the coming time, Thailand will actively promote high-quality tourism products and strengthen Vietnam - Thailand tourism links.
Ms. Srisuda Wanapinyosak - Deputy Director General of Thailand - TAT (responsible for promoting tourism in the Asia Pacific market) affirmed that this country is aiming to build a high-quality tourism brand, bringing maximum satisfaction to tourists.
Tight control of cheap tours
Ms. Srisuda said that high-quality tourism does not mean high prices. Tourists can absolutely experience tourism services that are worth what they spend. The quality of the tour is evaluated based on the smiles of tourists, feedback on hotel services, cuisine, and transportation in Thailand.

With a cheap tour, tourists can stay in a 3-star hotel with uncontrolled service quality, or be taken to unattractive, unprofessional destinations by tour guides. However, with the goal of developing high-quality tourism, the Thai tourism industry conducts inspections and reviews of the quality of tours in accordance with what has been advertised. In addition, the service staff at restaurants and hotels are trained in foreign languages as well as basic knowledge of culture and tourism.
Thailand also has a campaign to raise awareness, knowledge about heritage, and environmental protection awareness among tourists, through the erection of signs, instructions, and advertisements placed around tourist areas.
Strengthening Vietnam - Thailand tourism links and regional links
In the past 10 years, Thailand has been developing bilateral tourism with many countries, including Vietnam. The two countries' General Departments of Tourism are working together to bring reporters from Europe to visit famous tourist destinations. On the Thai side, at the end of September, TAT will organize a tour and survey for journalists and reporters from the US.
In 2017, TAT will also cooperate with leading Vietnamese travel companies to bring high-quality tourism products to the family and office worker segments, at new destinations such as Hua Hin, Phuket, Khao Yai and Chiang Mai for Vietnamese tourists.
More and more airlines are operating direct flights from Vietnamese cities to Thailand and vice versa, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Da Nang, Vinh, Nha Trang to Bangkok. It is expected that by the end of this year, Vietjet Air will open a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Phuket (Thailand) and vice versa.
TAT is also working to enhance the development of regional tourism links. Currently, Thailand is promoting the development of road and air tourism in ASEAN countries. Flights from Vietnam to Thailand and vice versa will both increase the exchange of tourists between the two countries and facilitate tourists from third countries who want to travel between countries in the region.
Discussing the concerns of many tourists due to the recent instability in Thailand, Ms. Srisuda Wanapinyosak said that TAT always provides accurate and timely information through social networks to create trust with tourists. In addition, the Thai government has also installed more security cameras at tourist hotspots and mobilized more plainclothes police to detect suspicious cases.
“That is why tourists returned to Thailand so quickly after the turmoil,” said Ms. Srisuda.
