This notice clearly states that temporary Vietnamese workers (excluding accompanying persons) are allowed to stay in Thailand for an additional 30 days to apply for a visa allowing them to reside in the Kingdom of Thailand, undergo a health check, pay health insurance, and apply for a legal work permit under the Thai Foreign Labor Law for a period of 1 year.

The place for registration is the Department of Labor Office in the provinces within 30 days, managed by the Governor of the province.

The conditions for being granted a work permit are: First, have an original passport. In case of losing your passport, apply for a new passport at the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok or the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen; after being granted a new passport, contact the Immigration Office to request a copy of the visa issued for the old passport as evidence of entry into Thailand in accordance with regulations and conditions.

The above tasks must be done within the specified time period (from December 1-30).

Second, the last legal entry into Thailand was before August 10 but the period of stay in the Kingdom of Thailand expired from the first day of registration (December 1).

Third, the employer and the employee must make a labor contract, each employee has a separate contract, and at the same time, explain the terms of the contract carefully to the employee and record it as evidence.

The Thai Ministry of Labor said that the country allows Vietnamese workers to register to work for a period of 1 year for the following jobs: domestic help, manual labor in the construction sector, fishing at sea and serving in restaurants.

At the request of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand during the meeting on November 30, Director General of the Department of Employment of the Thai Ministry of Labor Arak Pommanee committed that if Vietnamese workers have not completed registration within 30 days, the Thai Ministry of Labor will propose to extend the registration period for another 30 days.

For workers who entered Thailand for the last time after August 10, 2015, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok recommends that they return home to prepare to register to work in Thailand through official channels. The Labor Ministries of the two countries plan to deploy the recruitment of Vietnamese workers to Thailand as early as the first quarter of 2016.

All necessary information on the procedures for applying for labor registration, application forms and contract forms prescribed by the Thai Ministry of Labor has been updated on the websites of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand (http://www.vietnamembassy-thailand.org and http://www.facebook.com/VNEMBKK) as well as the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen (http://www.vietnamconsulate-khonkaen.org)./.
