Joining the Newbie Pickleball group online, woman was scammed of more than 2 billion VND
Police are investigating a case in which a woman reported being scammed out of more than 2.1 billion VND after joining the Newbie Pickleball group online.
Recently, Pickleball is a rapidly developing sport, attracting many people to participate in order to improve their health, creating a new trend in Vietnam. Since then, some people have created Pickleball clubs and groups online to scam participants.
Recently, the victim, Ms. N (living in Hanoi), joined the Newbie Pickleball group on social networks and was introduced by a person who was the Head of a large telecommunications technology group in Vietnam, who was investing in a profitable online game and invited Ms. N to join. The total amount of money she invested was more than 2.1 billion VND; when she wanted to withdraw money, the system notified that the trading account had violated the rules and required her to deposit more money before she could withdraw. When she discovered she had been scammed, Ms. N went to the police to report it.
To prevent fraud, Hanoi City Police recommends that people be vigilant when joining Pickleball clubs and groups on social networks without clearly understanding them. Be vigilant when asked to send money or participate in high-profit investment transactions or easy money-making methods. When encountering cases with signs of fraud, people need to contact the police to promptly resolve them according to regulations.
