Born in 1966 in Duc Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), ever since he was a student at a village school, Ho Sy Son always dreamed of wearing a white blouse and taking care of the health of each patient.

In 1991, after graduating from Thai Binh Medical University, Mr. Son worked at Yen Thanh District General Hospital. In 1994, due to the actual needs of the District Hospital, he was sent to study Anesthesia and Resuscitation at Hanoi Medical University and has been involved in this field ever since.

In 2001, Dr. Ho Sy Son transferred to the Provincial General Friendship Hospital. In 2011, after Nghe An Oncology Hospital was established, he transferred to work here and has held the position of Head of the Department of Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation from 2014 to present.

With solid expertise, Dr. Ho Sy Son and his colleagues from the Department of Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation have applied advanced techniques in anesthesia and resuscitation, such as: Anesthesia outside the operating room (anesthesia for gastrointestinal endoscopy); Laryngeal mask anesthesia; Single-lumen and double-lumen endotracheal anesthesia... with advanced pain relief techniques (epidural analgesia, PCA analgesia, nerve block anesthesia, paravertebral anesthesia) using new, safe and effective pain relievers according to the multimodal pain relief model, responding well to surgeries with complex pathologies and long surgery times...

Talking to us about his profession, Dr. Ho Sy Son said: Anesthesiologists are indispensable in any surgery. If each surgery is considered a "performance" of the surgeon, then anesthesiologists are the people behind the scenes supporting. In each surgery, the anesthesia team is the first to arrive at the operating room to prepare for the surgery, assess the patient's condition, prepare equipment and instruments, and perform pre-anesthesia and induction steps for the patient...

Therefore, the team of anesthesiologists must have good expertise, rich experience, predict all parameters, prevent risks, be precise in all operations, have resuscitation skills, emergency skills, anesthesia skills... to handle "urgent" cases, and must regularly update their knowledge to improve their professional qualifications. In addition to professional skills, anesthesiologists must practice communication skills, especially communication with patients before surgery so that they can feel secure when going under the knife.

Not only is he good at his profession, Dr. Ho Sy Son is also very sociable with his colleagues and friendly with his patients. As a leader, he often reminds the young medical team to maintain a good attitude, communicate, and create trust with patients and their families.

“In every surgery, we always try our best to be as careful and gentle as possible so that the patient can undergo anesthesia safely and complete the surgery completely. In addition, every anesthesiologist always considers the patient as family, sharing and encouraging them to help them reduce anxiety before and after each surgery,” Dr. Son shared.

During his work, Dr. Son has participated in dozens of scientific research topics at the grassroots, industry, and provincial levels…

With nearly 32 years of working in the medical industry and 12 years of dedication to the construction and development of Nghe An Oncology Hospital, Dr. Ho Sy Son has been recognized as a grassroots Emulation Fighter for more than 10 years with many certificates of merit from all levels and sectors.
