Gas station manager sentenced to prison for embezzling gasoline money.
(Baonghean.vn) -Taking advantage of his position as head of a retail gasoline station belonging to PTS Nghe Tinh Company, Pham Xuan Hoat did not transfer money to the company but embezzled it for personal gain.
On the afternoon of August 13, the Nghe An Provincial Court sentenced Pham Xuan Hoat (born in 1970), residing in Lien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, to 16 years in prison for the crime of embezzlement.

The trial revealed that Hoat worked at the Cong Thanh gas station in Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province, which belongs to PTS Nghe Tinh Company. According to regulations, Hoat was responsible for transferring sales revenue to the company. However, taking advantage of his position as station manager, Hoat embezzled sales revenue for personal use. Between 2009 and mid-2010, Hoat misappropriated nearly 500 million VND of the company's sales revenue.
After being reported to the police by PTS Nghe Tinh Company, Pham Xuan Hoat went into hiding. In September 2010, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police issued a nationwide arrest warrant for Pham Xuan Hoat. In April 2013, Hoat was apprehended by the Criminal Fugitive Apprehension Department of the Provincial Police while hiding in the South.
At the court hearing on the afternoon of August 13th, Hoat sincerely pleaded guilty. In addition to the 16-year prison sentence, Hoat was also ordered to compensate PTS Company for damages exceeding 471 million VND.
