Iran was ordered to pay $12,500 to each victim's spouse, $8,500 to each parent, $8,500 to each child and $4,250 to each sibling.

Daniels ruled against Iran in 2011 and 2016, ordering the Islamic Republic to pay victims and insurers billions of dollars in damages and compensation for the deaths in the hijackings. Iran has not commented on the information.

Robert Haefele, lThe families’ attorneys argued that federal courts had found that Iran provided material support to al-Qaeda. However, the 9/11 Commission found no evidence of direct Iranian support, other than that some of the hijackers passed through Iran on their way to Afghanistan without their passports being stamped.
