11-year-old prodigy receives full scholarship to American university

Elijah Preccieley will be a student at Southern University starting in the spring of 2019.

Last week, Elijah Preccieley (11 years old) in Baton Rouge city (Louisiana state, USA) was selected by Southern University (HBCU) to receive a full scholarship, according toWBRZ.

When Preccieley was 8 years old, Professor Diola Bagayoko of the school's Physics Department encouraged her to sign up for university preparatory classes to challenge herself.

"The professor started talking to me and saidMy class needs you.“So I took a few classes, went through a few months, a few semesters, a few years, and it snowballed,” Preccieley said during an official meeting with the school.

SchoolSouthern recognized the child prodigy's potential and decided to accept him as a new student.Having taken previous classes,Preccieley will officially study full-time as a sophomore starting in spring 2019. She plans to major in Physics and Mechanical Engineering.

Sharing about his son's achievements, StephenPreccieley said every child has the same potential.He simply encouraged his children to develop those potentials from a very young age with homeschooling.

According toDiversity IncAt 18 months old, the kindergarten encouraged Precciely's parents to move him to a higher level class. At age 3, he quizzed his mother about human anatomy and tax policy. He gave his first speech at age 5 and became a guest on a local radio show. The station now gives Precciely regular weekly airtime.

The 11-year-old is also an author and inventor. He has five patents in his portfolio.

"Find the child's genius, their interests, and nurture that. That's what we did," Stephen Precciely told The Advocate..
