Echeverri just had a brilliant performance at the South American U20 tournament, promising to bring a new breeze to the attack of "The Citizens".

Man City completed the signing of Claudio Echeverri from River Plate for £12.5m in January 2024. Despite being introduced to his new team, Echeverri remains at River Plate on loan until the end of 2024.

After finishing his loan deal with River Plate, Claudio Echeverri joined Argentina U20 to participate in the 2025 South American U20 Championship in Venezuela. The tournament just ended a day ago with the final between Argentina U20 and Paraguay U20.

The young Argentine midfielder will travel to England immediately after completing his U20 duty to prepare for a move to Man City. According to information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Claudio Echeverri will be at the Etihad Stadium this week to start training with his new teammates.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder could well be part of Pep Guardiola's plans for the crucial final stages of the 2024/25 season. The addition of Echeverri promises to bring more attacking options to Man City.

Before joining Man City, Claudio Echeverri had impressive performances at the recent South American U20 tournament. In 9 matches, the new Man City player scored 6 goals and had 3 assists. Despite playing very hard and having an impressive 6-0 victory over U20 Brazil in the opening match, Claudio Echeverri still could not help U20 Argentina win the championship. The dream of winning the championship was shattered, U20 Argentina sadly watched Brazil crowned.

At the recent South American U20 tournament, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Paraguay won 4 spots to attend the 2025 South American U20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Chile automatically got a spot to attend as the host team.

Before welcoming Claudio Echeverri, Man City recruited 5 other new players in the winter transfer window of 2025, including Omar Marmoush, Nico González, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Juma Bah. Of these, Juma Bah was loaned to Lens by Man City immediately after recruiting from Valladolid.
