In January 2018, the Hanoi court will try two major cases of embezzlement, both involving Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted that the focus should first be on a fair trial of Trinh Xuan Thanh and his accomplices in 2017, January and early February 2018.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chinh - Chief Justice of Hanoi People's Court - gave this information when reporting to Hanoi People's Council on the morning of December 4.

Specifically, there are two major cases: the case of Trinh Xuan Thanh and his accomplices for embezzlement of assets occurring at the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Corporation (PVC); and the case of Trinh Xuan Thanh and his accomplices also for embezzlement of assets occurring at the Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Real Estate Joint Stock Company (PVPOWER LAND).

"Next, in February 2018, the City People's Court continued to try the case related to the capital contribution of VND800 billion by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group to Dai Duong Joint Stock Company," Mr. Nguyen Huu Chinh added.

These are some of the key cases that have received public attention and from now until the Lunar New Year, the Hanoi People's Court must urgently and focusedly resolve according to the direction of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption.
