Defeating Panama, Vietnam futsal team has a chance to enter the 1/8 round of the World Cup

On the evening of September 16 (Hanoi time), the Vietnamese futsal team defeated Panama 3-2 in the second match of Group D of the 2021 World Cup in a tight match. Minh Tri, Doan Phat and Van Hieu scored for the Vietnamese futsal team. On the other side of the battle line, Castrellon scored a double.

In this match, coach Pham Minh Giang kept the starting lineup including goalkeeper Van Y, fixo Van Vu, 2 ala Quoc Nam and Doan Phat and pivo Minh Tri.

In the first minutes, the Vietnamese futsal team dominated the game, constantly putting pressure on Panama. Minh Tri and his teammates actively pressed high. The combination of cross-kicks became a dangerous tactic for the Vietnamese futsal team. In the 8th minute, Quoc Nam took a cross-kick for Doan Phat to finish into the top corner, raising the score to 2-0. The three goals that coach Minh Giang's students scored at the 2021 World Cup all followed this scenario.

With two goals, the Vietnamese futsal team slowed down and was put under pressure. Castrellon and his teammates gradually created more opportunities. They continuously shot towards goalkeeper Van Y's goal. One of them became a goal. After narrowing the score, the Panama futsal team started to play power-play.

Panama showed their strong passing ability. They made the Vietnamese futsal team commit 6 fouls in the first half. From a 10m free kick, Castrellon completed his double, equalizing the score 2-2 for Panama before the end of the first half. This was an unfortunate result for the Vietnamese futsal team when group 2 and group 3 created many good opportunities, but failed to take advantage of them.

In the first minutes of the second half, the Panama futsal team put on a lot of pressure. Goalkeeper Van Y had to continuously show his talent to save the goal. Up front, the Vietnamese players played the ball without much grace and often made mistakes in the final touches.

However, the surprise came in the 26th minute. Van Hieu had a brilliant moment. He stole the ball from the opponent's feet, dribbled from home and passed the Panama goalkeeper. Then, ala, born in 1998, finished from a narrow angle, raising the score to 3-2 for the Vietnamese futsal team.

After conceding the goal, the Panama futsal team continued to put pressure by pushing up their formation to press. The Vietnamese players had difficulty in developing the ball and had to use long passes. In return, coach Minh Giang's students always played aggressively in defensive situations when the CONCACAF representative created many opportunities thanks to applying the power-play tactic.

In addition, Van Y also played excellently to make a series of saves for the Vietnamese futsal team. In the end, coach Minh Giang and his team won 3-2 against Panama and got the first 3 points at the 2021 World Cup. This result helped the Vietnamese futsal team's chances of advancing much brighter.
