Youth Month - A meaningful journey

PV:In your opinion, what is special about Youth Month this year compared to previous years?

Mr. Le Van Luong:The annual Youth Month is an opportunity for young people to fully demonstrate their roles and responsibilities towards society and the community, thereby promoting the spirit of volunteerism and contributing to the successful implementation of the socio-economic development tasks of each locality and unit.

However, this year's Youth Month is also the time to focus on preparing and organizing the grassroots Youth Union Congress, so it is considered an opportunity to organize exciting emulation activities with many practical and meaningful projects and tasks to welcome the Youth Union Congresses at all levels, towards the 18th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province and the 12th National Youth Union Congress, term 2022 - 2027.

At the same time, in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic, activities during Youth Month 2022 are organized in the spirit of safe and flexible adaptation to ensure epidemic prevention and control work. In particular, continuing to maintain propaganda and raise awareness of compliance with epidemic prevention and control safety measures among people and young people. At the same time, activities also aim to promote the vanguard, volunteerism and expertise of union members and young people to participate in performing political tasks in localities and units.

PV:Among the targets set for Youth Month, which target do you think has been implemented most effectively?

Mr. Le Van Luong:During this year’s Youth Month, volunteer activities for social security and serving the people were carried out synchronously and effectively by union members and young people. Accordingly, the youth of the whole province mobilized and built 5 charity houses and 29 entertainment and activity spots for children in difficult areas of the province.

In addition to the previously set targets, the Youth Union at all levels have proactively implemented many more projects and tasks to meet practical needs in localities and units, such as 35/35 units implementing a model of medical teams to support F0 treatment; young doctors and nurses volunteering to provide health consultation, medical examination, medicine, disease prevention and food safety advice to nearly 1,600 people; presenting national flags to fishermen going out to sea; organizing the "Voluntary Blood Donation" Program; the "Bowl of Love Porridge" Program with more than 1,200 servings of porridge to support poor patients being treated at hospitals across the province.

PV:As the key year for the whole province to enter the National Target Program on new rural construction for the period 2021-2025, what outstanding activities have Nghe An youth had in participating in socio-economic development, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas during Youth Month?

Mr. Le Van Luong:Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province have actively deployed activities in response to the movement "Youth join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" with youth projects and tasks associated with the practical needs of social life in localities and units.

In particular, the Youth Union members and youth have simultaneously launched a campaign to renew, repair and clear more than 54 km of rural roads, build 3 "Lighting up the Countryside" projects using solar power; build "Youth Flag Road" project; build and repair 29 projects, children's playgrounds, 3 volleyball court projects. At the same time, they have built 238 "Youth Tree Rows" and "Youth Nurseries" projects; Dredge nearly 30 km of the intra-field canal system, and treat 86 environmental black spots. Build a "Youth Lotus Pond" model, a "Self-flowing Water System" project. Build 163 "Mural Road" projects.

In particular, the youth of the whole province organized the planting of more than 54,000 trees in association with models of environmental protection, anti-plastic waste, limiting the use of plastic bags, protecting water resources, protecting the hometown river. At the same time, volunteer teams were established to build new rural areas to help people with cultivation and animal husbandry techniques, and the application of technology in production, business and consumption of agricultural products.

PV:So what about the goal of building a strong Youth Union, expanding the solidarity front, and gathering young people, sir?

Mr. Le Van Luong:In order to contribute to the successful implementation of the annual theme of "Building a strong organization of the Youth Union" in the Youth Month, the whole province organized the admission of 3,250 new members of the "Class of members welcoming the Congress of the Youth Union at all levels, the 18th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province, term 2022 - 2027". At the same time, the organization launched a peak emulation campaign: members compete to achieve achievements, strive to train to become Party members to introduce outstanding members to the Party for consideration of admission.

More importantly, the Youth Union at all levels has stepped up propaganda, dissemination and implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws. At the same time, it has effectively implemented education through three key directions: raising political and ideological awareness of union members and young people about the Party; fighting to protect the Party's ideological foundation; preventing and combating moral and lifestyle degradation, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party with appropriate forms.

PV:To continue the achievements of Youth Month, what tasks do you think Nghe An youth will need to carry out in the coming time?

Mr. Le Van Luong:Right from the beginning of the year, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has set out key goals for the Youth Union and youth movement in the province. These goals aim to ensure sustainability and effectiveness in action programs. Therefore, after Youth Month, the youth of the whole province need to continue to maintain the set goals.

Specifically, continue to strengthen education, propaganda, and foster revolutionary ideals, ethics, and lifestyles for young people; in which, we will focus on innovating the content, form, and methods of education and propaganda. Next, we need to focus on directing the Youth Union Congresses at all levels, towards the 18th Provincial Youth Union Congress, term 2022 - 2027, on schedule and with quality. At the same time, we will well implement the 3 revolutionary action movements of the Youth Union as well as the 3 major programs of the Youth Union; in which, we will focus on promoting the role of the Youth Union organization as well as the Youth Union members and youth, together with the political system, to participate in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic; connecting and finding jobs for Youth Union members and youth affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

Finally, it is necessary to promote the role of the Youth Union in the activities of the Youth Union; expand the solidarity of the youth front in specific areas, and well organize and implement the activities of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers, taking good care of children and youth in the whole province. In particular, in the context of society being negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Youth Union needs to promote the application of digital transformation in implementing activities and programs in a practical and synchronous manner to improve the quality and effectiveness of the Youth Union's work.
