Convincing victory over Yemen, Vietnam still not sure of a place in the round of 16
(Baonghean.vn) – In the final match of Group D on the evening of January 16, the Vietnam National Team won 2-0 thanks to goals from midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai and captain Que Ngoc Hai.

After a series of opportunities created in a proactive game, the Vietnam team had to rely on a moment of brilliance from Quang Hai to break the deadlock. In the 39th minute, Cong Phuong was fouled and Vietnam was awarded a free kick about 35m from the Yemen goal.
The distance was just enough for Quang Hai to still draw a beautiful curve, pinning the ball into the dead corner to defeat the Yemen goalkeeper. And 1-0 was the result of the first half.

In the 64th minute of the second half, Phan Van Duc accelerated, causing number 5 Al-Gumaei to commit a clear foul in the penalty area and the Omani referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. Captain Que Ngoc Hai bravely and coolly fooled the opposing goalkeeper, raising the score to 2-0.
After that situation, Phan Van Duc was suddenly replaced by Van Toan; before that, Tien Linh was brought onto the field to replace midfielder Luong Xuan Truong.

At the end of the match, Coach Park sent Minh Vuong in to replace Cong Phuong with the intention of preserving the score and hoping for another goal. Because if there was just one more goal, the Vietnamese team would immediately win a ticket to the round of 16. However, the 2-0 result remained until the end of the match.
This result forces coach Park Hang-seo and his team to wait for the results of the two groups taking place today (January 17) to know whether they will get a ticket to continue or not./.
