New rural roads are being built in Vo Liet commune using cement supplied by the province.

After nearly 5 years of actively implementing the National Target Program for building new rural areas, Thanh Chuong district has mobilized nearly 1,200 billion VND, of which the people contributed more than 533 billion VND (accounting for 46.57%). In addition, 18,309 machine shifts and 190,822 man-days of labor were mobilized; people donated 46.13 hectares of land; and relocated structures and assets estimated at over 18 billion VND.

Thanks to these efforts, the rural transportation system has now reached 643 km of standard roads. Of this, 136 km were constructed using cement supplied by the province, 99% of communes now have paved roads leading to their centers; 130 km of new roads have been built, and 580 km have been widened or straightened…

Over 862.6 km of canals have been concreted, 121 reservoirs and dams, and 104 pumping stations have been repaired and upgraded, basically meeting irrigation needs. These results are considered a very significant success given the limited budget allocated for rural development.

To date, Thanh Chuong district has 7 communes that have met the standards for New Rural Development, and the locality is striving to have an additional 3-4 communes meet these standards by the end of 2016.
