Thanh Chuong: Stabilizing the natural population growth rate below 1%.
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 28th, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district held a conference to summarize 10 years of implementing the Population Ordinance from 2003 to 2013.
Over the past 10 years of implementing the Population Ordinance, the population and family planning work in Thanh Chuong district has achieved many positive results. People's awareness has gradually improved and changed in a positive direction. The two-child family model has been voluntarily accepted by most couples, population growth has been rapidly controlled, and the district's annual crude birth rate has remained relatively stable. The rate of third or subsequent births decreased from 22.7% in 2003 to 17.5% in 2012. The low birth rate has maintained a stable population size over the years, with a natural population growth rate below 1%.
In particular, reproductive health care has received increasing attention, and the quality of the population has improved in terms of physical, intellectual, and mental health, with an average life expectancy of 73 years. The entire district has achieved universal primary education at the appropriate age and universal lower secondary education since 2006.
After 10 years of implementing the population and family planning policy, Thanh Chuong district has had 2,205 collectives and individuals commended and encouraged according to the Resolution of the District People's Council, with a total expenditure of over 800 million VND for commendation work. At the end of the conference, the Thanh Chuong District People's Committee awarded prizes to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Population Ordinance over the past 10 years.
