Thanh Chuong organizes workshop on hybrid corn varieties with 20% increase in productivity

((Baonghean.vn) - On February 23, at Phong Thinh commune, Thanh Chuong district People's Committee coordinated with Syngenta Vietnam Company and Vietnam Disinfection Company to organize a field workshop on the NK66 Bt/GT genetically modified corn hybrid for the 2015 winter crop.

As a new corn variety initially being tested in a model, in this crop, Thanh Chuong district directed the trial planting of 0.2 ha of NK66 Bt/GT corn and 0.1 ha of regular NK 66 corn on adjacent fields for comparison. Production results showed that both corn varieties had high yields compared to the general level. Specifically, NK66Bt/GT corn had a yield of 340 kg/sao, and regular NK66 corn had a yield of 290 kg/sao.

The outstanding advantage of the NK66Bt/GT transgenic corn variety is that it does not require weeding, but only requires one spray of glyphosate 20-25 days after sowing and does not require spraying insecticides against stem borers or corn borers. This ensures plant density and corn quantity.
