Success in low-lying areas
(Baonghean) - With the philosophy of "Leaving agriculture but not leaving home," Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung in Hamlet 3, Nam Anh Commune, Nam Dan District, has resolutely built a successful model of producing and trading integrated construction materials, bringing high economic efficiency and creating jobs for local laborers.
Born in a poor rural area in Hamlet 1, Nam Anh Commune (Nam Dan District), Nguyen Dinh Hung (born in 1979) had to start working early after graduating from junior high school to help his parents and support his younger siblings' education. He began his journey in the mechanical processing industry in Dak Lak Province. With the experience he had gained, a few years later, he decided to return to his hometown, borrow more capital from relatives, and invest in machinery and equipment for mechanical processing. His iron gates, fences, and cooling systems began to attract attention from the people in the commune because of their quality and diverse designs, coupled with his enthusiastic and attentive service. With the capital and business experience he had accumulated, in 2010, with the policy of developing the economy and creating jobs for rural workers, and with the support of the Youth Union and local government, he decided to lease the Hai Duong wetland area in Hamlet 1, Nam Anh Commune to build a brick production facility.

Bau Hai Duong is a barren, low-lying area, difficult to cultivate for agriculture. The difficulties were compounded by his lack of capital and partners. However, recognizing the potential of the vast land near the river, he hired vehicles to transport soil for leveling, mobilized labor for land reclamation, built fences and workshops, and invested in equipment such as a pressing machine, mortar mixer, excavator, one truck for transporting goods, and two tractors for transporting raw materials. In the initial period of operation, the production line produced over 1,000 bricks per day, over 40,000 bricks per month. With a selling price of 2,200 VND per brick, he earned nearly 90 million VND per month, averaging a net profit of over 300 million VND per year.
To maintain production and remain competitive in the market, it's essential to retain a workforce. Therefore, Mr. Hung has adopted a flexible labor management approach, transforming his production facility into a dynamic job-making environment. Workers can work by the hour or day and are paid immediately after delivering products. He also actively provides hands-on vocational training, enabling his workforce to quickly become proficient. Currently, his facility consistently employs around 10 workers, earning between 4 and 10 million VND per person per month, with the majority being local residents.
Ho Viet Dinh (20 years old), from Hamlet 1, Nam Anh Commune, happily shared: “I finished high school, but my family is poor and I couldn't afford to attend vocational schools. I spent many years working in industrial zones in the South, but because it was far from home and the income was low, I decided to return to my hometown and work at Mr. Hung's facility. I earn 4.5 million VND per month. Now my life is relatively stable.”
In a volatile market economy, young entrepreneur Nguyen Dinh Hung prioritizes creating innovative solutions. To ensure a stable supply of raw materials, he collaborates with the Lam Son Dai Thanh Cooperative (Nam Dan Town) to purchase sand and gravel. He constantly improves product designs to meet local construction needs and enhances product quality to attract customers. Besides the two standard brick sizes: 30-10-15 and 26-8-13, he also creates a 29-9-14 brick. Despite the design changes, prices remain stable, and customer service is excellent. As a result, after more than five years of operation, his brick products have consistently held a strong position in the local market, including Xuan Hoa, Nam Anh, Nam Xuan, and several neighboring districts.
Although Mr. Hung's production model is not yet large-scale, it demonstrates flexible labor organization methods and the ability to "innovate" products through various specific actions, thus establishing a firm position in the market. Discussing his future plans, Mr. Hung happily said: "I want to lease more space to expand production scale, boost mechanical processing activities, and broaden the scope of product supply in the market. I am preparing to complete the necessary legal procedures to establish a business for sand and construction materials extraction in the area, expanding its scale and scope, attracting skilled workers, and providing vocational training for rural laborers." As we parted ways with the bold young man, Nguyen Dinh Hung, we wished him success in realizing his plans.
