On January 18, the General Department of Administrative Police for Social Order and Safety - Ministry of Public Security held a launching ceremony for the Department of Police for Registration, Residence Management and National Population Data.
Previously, on October 10, 2012, the Minister of Public Security signed a Decision to establish and regulate the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Department of Registration, Management of Citizenship and National Data Police. The Department of Registration, Management of Citizenship and National Data Police has the function of directing and guiding the Police force of Registration, Management of Citizenship and National Data Police nationwide on registration and management of citizens; issuing and managing identity cards; building, managing and exploiting the national database on population to serve the State management of residence, ensuring security, national defense, and economic and social development.
