(Baonghean.vn) - The establishment of the Tropical Disease Center at Nghe An General Hospital will contribute significantly to the control and treatment of infectious diseases in the province in particular and the North Central region in general.

This morning, January 1, 2020, the Tropical Disease Center under Nghe An General Hospital held an opening ceremony and officially came into operation.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Duong Dinh Chinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Director of the Department of Health; Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach - Director of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, representatives of Nghe An General Hospital, hospitals in the province and related agencies.

The Tropical Disease Center is a clinical unit with 117 beds, based on the existing facilities, equipment and human resources of the Hospital's Tropical Disease Department.

The center has 2 departments: General Infection and Parasitic Viruses and 7 functional rooms including: Ultrasound room, X-ray room, HIV outpatient clinic, Viral hepatitis clinic, Infectious disease treatment consultation clinic, One-stop reception department, outpatient drug dispensing room.

The Center for Tropical Diseases is a specialized medical center, with the function of assisting the Director of Nghe An General Hospital in advising the Director of Nghe An Provincial Department of Health in developing a strategy for developing the infectious and infectious diseases specialty in the entire province and moving towards the North Central region; Directing the grassroots level in technical expertise, training and developing the network of specialists and being a training facility for infectious disease practice; Being the final line for examination and treatment of infectious and infectious diseases in Nghe An province and the North Central region.

The center is also a training practice facility and participates in teaching infectious diseases to medical staff and students in the medical field, medical majors; Participates in intermediate, college, university and postgraduate training for the Ministry of Health, Vinh Medical University and other universities and colleges when assigned; Organizes training and retraining for staff in hospitals and lower-level medical facilities to improve their professional qualifications.

In addition to the above tasks, the Center also has the task of coordinating with the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Bach Mai Hospital and other specialized central institutes such as the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, CDC Nghe An Center for Disease Control... to monitor and prevent infectious diseases and newly emerging diseases. Along with that, it provides advice on monitoring, prevention and management of infectious diseases for patients, families and the community. Carry out propaganda and education activities on prevention and monitoring of infectious diseases.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Nghe An Department of Health, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh affirmed that the establishment of the Tropical Disease Center - the 4th specialized medical center of Nghe An General Hospital and the 7th center of the province will contribute significantly to the strategy of developing specialized techniques of Nghe An health sector. He hoped that the leaders, officers and employees of the Center would unite and make efforts to bring the Center to new heights, focusing on human resource training and developing advanced techniques in each stage.

"Not only does the Center do a good job of examining and treating infectious diseases, but it also needs to coordinate well with the CDC Nghe An Center for Disease Control to do a good job of preventing and controlling epidemics," Director Duong Dinh Chinh emphasized.
