Establishment of the National Committee to perform the role of ASEAN Chair in 2020

The Prime Minister has just issued Decision No. 1743/QD-TTg dated December 14, 2018 on the establishment of the National Committee to prepare and perform the role of ASEAN Chair in 2020 of Vietnam (referred to as the ASEAN National Committee 2020) with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh as Chairman of the Committee.

The ASEAN National Committee 2020 consists of 29 members, tasked with assisting the Prime Minister in directing, urging, coordinating, and guiding ministries, agencies, and localities in areas of work related to preparing and implementing Vietnam's role as ASEAN Chair in 2020.

Specifically, the Committee will study and propose to the Prime Minister directions and solutions to resolve issues related to the ASEAN Chairmanship term; assist the Prime Minister in directing, coordinating and collaborating between relevant ministries, agencies and localities in resolving issues related to Vietnam's ASEAN Chairmanship term 2020.

The Committee assists the Prime Minister in urging relevant ministries, agencies and localities to carry out tasks and issues related to Vietnam's 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship term.

The ASEAN National Committee 2020 consists of five sub-committees: Content, Reception, Propaganda-Culture, Materials-Logistics, Security-Healthcare and the ASEAN National Secretariat 2020.

The Content Subcommittee is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and organizing the implementation of all content work to serve Vietnam's 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship term.

The Reception Subcommittee is responsible for all reception work during the organization of major conferences and events that Vietnam hosts during its ASEAN Chairmanship 2020.

The Material-Logistics Subcommittee is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and organizing the implementation of all material and logistics work to serve conferences and events during Vietnam's 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship term.

The Propaganda and Culture Subcommittee is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the reporting, propaganda, and promotion of conferences and related activities during Vietnam's 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship term.

The Security-Health Subcommittee is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the implementation of tasks related to ensuring security and health within the framework of Vietnam's 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship term.

The ASEAN National Secretariat 2020, chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is the standing body assisting the ASEAN National Committee 2020 in managing all activities related to Vietnam's role as ASEAN Chair 2020; monitoring, coordinating and directing the activities of the Sub-Committees, between the Sub-Committees and relevant ministries, agencies and localities in preparing and organizing conferences and activities taking place in Vietnam in 2020./.
