Young man pretends to be a bus driver to scam more than 100 people, embezzling 170 million VND
Using a personal phone number pretending to be the bus company's phone number to receive bookings, Hua Luat Phong defrauded and appropriated the property of more than 100 victims, with a total amount of about 170 million VND.
On the evening of September 15, Dien Bien Provincial Police announced that they had just arrested Hua Luat Phong (born in 1992, from Cao Bang) for "Fraudulent appropriation of property". Suspect Phong had a previous conviction for "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and had just completed his prison term in January 2023.

Police determined that suspect Phong created and used a personal Facebook account, then connected to the fanpage of Song Chau Bus Company running the Dien Bien - Hanoi route.
Every time a customer calls the phone number in the bus company's introduction on the fanpage, Phong will ask the customer to transfer part or all of the ticket price in advance to confirm a successful booking.
But in fact, these phone numbers belong to Phong personally, not to the bus company. The money that customers transfer to Phong is used for personal expenses, and the bus company is not informed about the booking.
Using this trick, from April to June 2023, Phong defrauded and appropriated money from over 100 people for a total of about 170 million VND.
