18 year old young man went to jail for the second time for drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - At the age of 18, Tran Ngoc Duc has committed drug crimes twice. The second time he went to prison, seeing his mother crying in court, Duc told her he hoped she would get well and wait for him to come home.
On September 23, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a criminal trial of defendant Tran Ngoc Duc (born 2004), residing in Quan Hanh town, Nghi Loc district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
Although he is 18 years old, this is the second time Duc has appeared in court. Previously, when he was 17, Duc was sentenced to 6 months in prison for illegal possession of drugs.drug.
After being released from prison, Duc did not live with his mother but rented a room in Vinh City. At the end of April 2022, Duc went to a friend's birthday party and met a man named Quang. Seeing this person using drugs, Duc asked to use it and then asked where to buy drugs. Following Quang's instructions, on May 6, Duc hired a taxi to Huong Son District (Ha Tinh) to buy 35 million VND worth of ecstasy and Ketamine from an unknown person.

Duc brought the drugs back to his rented room, divided them into small pieces to sell for profit. Duc sold 4 pink pills to a stranger for 1.6 million VND. At noon on May 9, while Duc was sleeping in his rented room, the police came to inspect and discovered a lot of drugs with a weight of more than 90 grams.
At the trial, the defendant confessed that he had been involved in drug trafficking because of the huge profits from drugs, despite having been in prison once before. Seeing his mother come to court and cry, Duc asked the court to reduce his sentence and hoped that “mother will be healthy enough to wait for him to come home.”
Considering that in this case, the defendant has many mitigating circumstances such as honest confession and repentance, but the defendant also has aggravating circumstances such as recidivism. Therefore, the court sentenced defendant Tran Ngoc Duc to 9 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of “Illegal drug trafficking”./.
