Nghe An Youth Volunteers: Forever worthy of heroic tradition

They were heroes in the resistance war against foreign invaders, gaining independence and freedom for the country; they were pioneers in the construction and development in peacetime.

The more difficult and arduous the cadres and youth volunteers of Nghe An province have been, the more they have demonstrated their revolutionary heroism with an optimistic spirit of love for life, love for comrades, teammates, love for the fatherland, love for the homeland and country with courage and iron determination, creating miracles on the fronts, on the routes, and at the most fierce enemy attacks, contributing worthily with the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people to smash the invasion plots of French colonialists and American imperialists.

With their great contributions, the youth volunteers are worthy of being a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism and patriotism of the young generation of Vietnam, not only the pride of the Party and the people but also the admiration of the world's youth. The glorious tradition of the youth volunteers has become a great spiritual value that encourages the young generation of Vietnam to continue to strive and contribute to the cause of national development.
With their dedication, sacrifices and outstanding achievements in the two resistance wars and in the post-war reconstruction of the country, the Nghe An Youth Volunteer Force was honored and proud to have received many noble awards from the Party and the State. In particular, the Nghe An Youth Volunteer Force and many collectives, cadres and members of the province's youth volunteers were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President.

Continuing the tradition of previous generations of youth volunteers, the Youth Volunteer Force for Economic Development of the province has become a socio-economic model in the key areas of Western Nghe An; a model and a driving force to promote socio-economic development of ethnic minorities in the highlands, actively contributing to socio-economic development and maintaining political security and social order and safety in the province.

Recognizing the great contributions and dedication of the Provincial Youth Volunteer Force, in recent times, the Party committees at all levels, the government, and functional agencies of the province have paid attention to and effectively implemented policies and guidelines for the Youth Volunteers who have completed their tasks during the resistance war.
Up to now, the whole province has had 21,541 youth volunteers receiving benefits, of which 555 youth volunteers who sacrificed their lives have been recognized as martyrs; 6,067 injured youth volunteers have received war invalid policies; 497 youth volunteers with especially difficult circumstances have received one-time benefits and regular benefits; 14,422 youth volunteers with difficult circumstances have received one-time benefits.
In addition, in the province, there are 17,828 former youth volunteers who have enjoyed the following benefits: 968 deceased youth volunteers have enjoyed funeral benefits; 247 families of former youth volunteers have had their dioxin exposure benefits resolved by the US during the Vietnam War, including 171 former youth volunteers and 76 cases of children of former youth volunteers; 16,613 youth volunteers who are not eligible for retirement have enjoyed health insurance benefits.![]() |

However, up to now, many youth volunteers in the province have not yet enjoyed the regimes prescribed by the State. This is a difficult problem that needs to be addressed and resolved by Party committees, authorities at all levels, and sectors from the central to local levels in the coming time, in order to ensure the legitimate rights of members.

The Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers at all levels needs to build an increasingly strong organization, striving to ensure that wherever there are former youth volunteers, there are Association activities; to be a solid support for members, creating conditions for former youth volunteers to promote their roles in the community and in society.

Associations at all levels need to propose and coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure policies and regimes for former youth volunteers; continue to promote the movement "for comradeship", seek the attention, support and assistance of organizations, groups, individuals and philanthropists to organize well comradeship work, especially for families of youth volunteers and youth volunteers in difficult circumstances.

In addition, the Nghe An Association of Former Youth Volunteers also needs to organize many events that have a wide impact; promote the revolutionary tradition and enthusiasm of a time of youth, continue to promote the Campaign "Former Youth Volunteers set a good example in studying and following the teachings and moral example and style of Ho Chi Minh"; actively respond to the movement "Join hands to build new rural areas"; promote the emulation movement "Former Youth Volunteers do good business - for the sake of comradeship", the movement to help each other eliminate hunger and reduce poverty "repay gratitude"...

The Association of Former Youth Volunteers and the Provincial Youth Union must also strengthen coordination to promote propaganda and education on revolutionary traditions and youth volunteer traditions for the younger generation; participate in responding to patriotic emulation movements launched by all levels and sectors.... Associations at all levels and members also need to promote their roles, actively participate in protecting and building the Party, building a strong government, contributing together with the Party Committee and the people of the province to successfully implement the goals set out in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, soon turning Nghe An into a prosperous province as Uncle Ho always wished.

With their contributions, sacrifices and outstanding achievements in the two resistance wars and in the period of overcoming the consequences of war, restoring the economy and building socialism in the North, the Nghe An Youth Volunteer Force was honored and proud to receive 121 Military Exploit Medals and Labor Medals from the President and the Prime Minister for collectives and individuals; received 41 emulation flags and 4 rotating flags from Uncle Ho; Uncle Ho presented the best emulation flag to the Cu Chinh Lan Youth Volunteer Team serving the Central - Upper Laos front in 1952-1953. The 333rd Youth Volunteer Company at Cam Bridge was honored to receive a radio and a letter of commendation from Uncle Ho. The Nghe An Youth Volunteer Force had 754 emulation soldiers, of which 253 brave soldiers defeated the Americans; 7 units were awarded the title "Brave Soldiers Defeating the Americans in the Transport Sector" by the Ministry of Transport...
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Truong Bon victory (October 31, 1968 - October 31, 2008), the collective of 14 officers and soldiers of the Youth Volunteer Force Company 317 - Team 65 was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Youth Volunteer Force (July 15, 1950 - July 15, 2010), the Nghe An Youth Volunteer Force was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President. In 2018, the Nghe An Youth Volunteer Force was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President to 3 units: the 202nd Youth Volunteer Force Congress of Nghe An working in Quang Binh; Youth Volunteer Force Company 333 - Team 67 at Cau Cam; Youth Volunteer Company 168 - Group 559 Truong Son Army... In 2009, comrade Ho Thi Thu Hien, former Captain of Youth Volunteer Company 202 Nghe An, was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President.
