Vinh City installs more community cameras to monitor traffic safety and security

"Hot" situation of violating traffic safety corridors, electronic information

According to the report, in 2018, the work of ensuring traffic safety, urban order, and environmental sanitation in the area had many positive changes. The city organized many campaigns to clear traffic safety corridors. The work of clearing road, railway, and urban sidewalk corridors has gone into depth, and people's awareness has also been gradually raised.

In 2018, the authorities recorded and handled over 1,818 cases of administrative violations in the field of traffic safety and environmental sanitation with a total amount of money collected of over VND929,065.million.

However, traffic safety violations in Vinh city are still quite complicated. The most prominent is the situation of trucks and passenger cars traveling on the city's prohibited routes during rush hours, without a license or traveling at a time not in accordance with the time stated in the issued license, causing disorder in traffic safety and urban order...

In 2018, there were 79 traffic accidents in the city, killing 30 people and injuring 58 people.

In particular, in recent times, the use of "laughing gas" in bars and cafes has complicated the security and order situation. During this peak period, the authorities discovered and arrested 56 cases, 60 drug offenders, seized 2.075 kg of crystal meth, 1.001 kg of heroin, 14,056 synthetic drug pills, weighing 1.568 kg, and 112 grams of ketamine.

Enhance the responsibility of ward and commune leaders

At the conference, delegates focused on clarifying the shortcomings and limitations affecting the work of ensuring traffic safety and order and the work of clearing and preventing re-encroachment of traffic safety corridors in 2018.

According to Mr. Le Sy Chien - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee, the participation of some members of the Urban Order Steering Committee has not regularly followed up, urged and directed the work of clearing traffic safety corridors in the assigned wards and communes.

The work of inspection, supervision, and assigning responsibility to leaders has been carried out but not thoroughly, and the responsibility of leaders in clearing traffic safety corridors has not been handled. In some wards and communes, the work of clearing traffic safety corridors has not gone well with maintenance, so re-encroachment still occurs frequently.

Mr. Le Sy Chien - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee requested wards and communes to strengthen inter-sectoral inspections according to the rapid response team model; exploit and develop more community cameras. In the work of clearing traffic safety corridors, relevant departments advised on promulgating regulations on forms of criticism and discipline for individuals who are department-level leaders; chairmen and vice chairmen of People's Committees at ward and commune levels according to Decision No. 07/2018/QD-UBND dated January 31, 2018 of the Provincial People's Committee.

On this occasion, the City People's Committee honored and awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 collectives and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue in 2018; 4 collectives and 7 individuals with outstanding achievements in ensuring traffic safety, urban order, and environmental sanitation; 14 collectives and 28 individuals with outstanding achievements in the peak period of fighting and suppressing crimes; preventing violations of firecrackers before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2019.
