Vinh City: "Fever" of land rental services for selling flowers and ornamental plants for Tet
(Baonghean.vn) - With only 1 month left until Lunar New Year, at present, the service of renting land to sell Tet flowers in Vinh City is sought after by many gardeners and businesses.
Every Tet holiday, Lenin Street becomes the busiest place for flower and ornamental plant shops in Vinh City. This year, many shop owners have started renting land to sell Tet flowers here since December 2017.
Mr. Dam Xuan Hung in Van Giang district, Hung Yen province is one of the garden owners renting land on Le Nin street. He shared: This is the first time I have come to display ornamental plants for Tet in Vinh city. Because the land renter is an acquaintance, the rental cost is reasonable. Currently, my booth has an area of 10 square meters and is rented for 10 million VND.

According to observations, Lenin Street currently has dozens of ornamental plant stalls on both sides of the road. Most of the tenants are garden and ornamental plant owners in the province and some stalls come from other provinces. However, not every gardener is lucky enough to find a suitable location to sell their products.
Ms. N, a flower shop owner, is concerned: Because finding land to sell flowers is slower than other households, we have to rent land through a "land broker" at a price of 3 million VND/m2, with a total of 30 million VND for a selling location, much higher than the neighboring households. The worrying thing this year is that the amount of ornamental plants is less than previous years due to bad weather. If all the goods are sold, it will be difficult to find a new source of goods. With the 30 million VND land rental fee, it is difficult to make a profit.

Contacting the phone number provided by the garden owner, we met Mr. Nghia, a person who rents land on Le Nin Street to sublease to garden owners.
Mr. Nghia said: "About 2 months before Tet, I rented land from landowners on Le Nin Street with a total area of over 100 m². Up to now, I have rented it to 9 gardeners with each area from 10 - 12 m². Currently, many people call to order but there is no more land to rent."
According to the shop owners who rent land, the rental price depends on many factors. The most important is still the familiarity with the landlord, followed by the rental location, if it is on the street, the price is higher.
The earlier you rent, the cheaper the price will be because more and more gardeners are opening to sell Tet flowers; in addition, rental locations with longer depths to store goods often have higher prices.

Currently, the land rental price ranges from 1 - 3 million VND/m2, on average, to have a plot of land to display flowers and ornamental plants, the garden owner has to spend about 10 - 30 million VND. This price is tending to increase because there is not much vacant land for rent left.
Renting land to sell flowers and ornamental plants is a hot service before Tet holiday, but this service also has many potential risks of traffic safety and environmental pollution. Besides, some gardeners will be ripped off if they rent late.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang - Head of Vinh City Urban Management Department said: Vinh City has assigned wards and communes to manage this issue and requested wards and communes to ensure hygiene as well as security and order.
