Vinh City donates 2 billion VND to the Coast Guard and Fisheries Surveillance Force.
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to support and stand alongside Vietnamese law enforcement forces currently on duty in the sea area where China is illegally placing the Haiyang 981 oil rig in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, a delegation from Vinh City recently donated 2 billion VND to the Coast Guard Region 2 and the Fisheries Inspection Sub-Department Region 3.
On July 12th, a delegation led by Comrade Vo Viet Thanh, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee, along with leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, and various departments and agencies of Vinh City, and representatives from wards, communes, and neighborhoods, visited the Region 2 Coast Guard stationed in Nui Thanh District, Quang Nam Province. With the mission of protecting the sea area from Quang Tri to Binh Dinh Province and the entire Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands of Vietnam, the Region 2 Coast Guard has performed its law enforcement duties well at sea.

Since China brazenly and illegally deployed the Haiyang 981 oil rig in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, the Coast Guard officers of Region 2 have steadfastly held their ground, fighting day and night on the ground, carrying out propaganda, explaining, and requesting the rig's withdrawal from Vietnamese waters. Many times, Coast Guard vessels have been rammed and sprayed with water cannons by Chinese ships, many officers have been injured while on duty, and many vessels have been damaged, but this has not deterred the officers.

On the same day, the delegation visited the 3rd Fisheries Inspection Team of the Fisheries Inspection Department, located at Tien Sa Port, Da Nang City. This newly established force is tasked with enforcing fisheries laws, protecting aquatic resources, and handling violations by vessels in Vietnamese waters. Simultaneously, it is responsible for protecting maritime sovereignty, safeguarding fishermen, and directly participating in marine economic activities. In recent times, the 3rd Fisheries Inspection Team has closely coordinated with the Coast Guard and fishing vessels to enforce the law, combat the blatant and unjust acts of encroachment by the Chinese authorities, and protect Vietnam's traditional fishing grounds and maritime territories.

As soon as the situation in the East Sea became tense, the people of Vinh City demonstrated a deep spirit of solidarity and patriotism. Responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Vinh City, the city's residents donated over 3 billion VND. This money was presented by the delegation to fishermen in Ly Son Island District, Quang Ngai Province, and to the Fisheries Surveillance Sub-Department 3 and the Coast Guard Region 2, with 1 billion VND each.
