Vinh City organizes the death anniversary of Saint Tran
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 20 (August 20th of the lunar calendar), together with people across the country, Vinh City People's Committee solemnly held the 716th death anniversary of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan at the Tran Hung Dao Temple relic, Doi Cung ward.
Attending the memorial service were representatives of Vinh city leaders, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and many people from all walks of life in the area.

Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan was born on December 10, 1928. He was a national hero who led the army and people of Dai Viet to defeat the invading Yuan army three times in the 13th century. After his death in 1300, Hung Dao Dai Vuong was worshiped by the people as Saint Tran and temples were built across the country.
Tran Hung Dao Temple in Vinh city (formerly Vinh Hung commune, now Doi Cung ward) was built in 1914. After two resistance wars against France and the US, the temple was damaged, so the statue of Saint Tran and the sacrificial objects were brought back to Hong Son Temple.

On June 21, 2016, the Tran Hung Dao Temple was officially restored at its old location. This is the first year after 40 years that the death anniversary of King Tran Quoc Tuan has been held at the temple.
