Vinh City: Handling 1,425 motorbikes and cars of all kinds parked illegally

In 2017, Vinh City Party Committee established Vinh City Urban Order Steering Committee, issued Plan No. 62-KH/BCĐ dated March 29, 2017 on clearing violations of road, railway and sidewalk traffic safety corridors in the city and implementing "Urban Order Year 2017."

In particular, since April 15, 2017, the entire city has launched a campaign to enforce the clearance of traffic safety corridors and sidewalks. The campaigns have been carried out in a grand manner, with a high sense of responsibility, and 100% of wards and communes have participated synchronously.

Therefore, the results of the work of clearing traffic safety corridors and sidewalks in 2017 were very positive with nearly 7,000 operations. Of which, 2,000 billboards, 1,315 tables and chairs, 557 material gathering points, 205 temporary houses, and over 2,717 cases of steps encroaching on sidewalks were confiscated...

The authorities have recorded and handled over 1,286 cases of administrative violations in the field of traffic safety and environmental sanitation with a total amount of over 820 million VND collected. Some localities have taken strong action and achieved positive results such as Truong Thi, Hung Phuc, Hung Binh, Hong Son, Ben Thuy wards...

To prevent the reoccupation of sidewalks after clearance, in August 2017, the Vinh City People's Committee established a Rapid Response Team to handle violations of urban order in the city. The Rapid Response Team is responsible for quickly and effectively handling violations of urban order, even outside of working hours.

As of December 31, 2017, the rapid response team has handled 1,425 cases of motorbikes and cars of all kinds parked in the wrong places, handled 208 business locations, demolished over 65 types of fixed roofs, and seized thousands of items such as tables, chairs, carts, billboards, etc.

The team has drawn up 623 administrative violation records across the city with the amount collected and paid into the budget of nearly 692 million VND.

However, the work of clearing traffic safety corridors in Vinh city last year still had many limitations. The situation of re-occupying sidewalks still occurred on some streets, especially at night, although the city has increased the inspection time and penalties. Some wards and communes were assigned tasks but still lacked a sense of responsibility in the assigned work....

In 2018, Vinh City will carry out key tasks to ensure order in traffic safety corridors and sidewalks, such as criticizing and disciplining individuals who are department-level leaders and commune-level leaders who are assigned tasks but lack a sense of responsibility. The City will maintain the operation of the Rapid Response Team to quickly resolve violations of traffic safety corridors and sidewalks.

Direct the city police to preside over and coordinate with the Urban Management Department to survey and propose plans for lane division, traffic flow division, installation of traffic restriction signs, no stopping and no parking signs to limit traffic congestion; promptly handle "black spots" of traffic safety in 2018./.
