Inspection of new urban area projects: Many violations discovered

To rectify the management of construction order and land use, at the end of May, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Decision No. 2528/QD-UBND to establish an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect housing projects and new urban areas in Hanoi.

Phung Manh Dung, Deputy Head of the Statistics Registration Office - Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that immediately after receiving the City's direction, the Inspection Team established two working groups to inspect 50 projects (each group inspected 25 projects). All projects subject to inspection have been handed over to buyers by the investors. According to Mr. Dung, during the inspection process, the investors basically cooperated with the inspection team.

During the working process, the delegation requested project investors to supplement documents among the items and provide sufficient documents. Preliminary assessment of the inspected projects, Mr. Dung said: The violations all fell into cases such as construction without proper permits, misuse of technical floors, conversion of commercial area (in buildings) into housing, adding floors compared to the design...

It is expected that the inspection of housing projects and urban areas will be completed in September and the inspection conclusion will be available by October 2016. After the official conclusion, the inspection team will make specific proposals for handling violations in each project and submit them to the City People's Committee for consideration.
