Surprise inspection of the family assets of the director of Yen Bai Department of Natural Resources

The assets include a villa, a stilt house, a lake... which are said to be in the name of the wife of the Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Yen Bai.

Mr. Pham Trong Dat - Director of the Anti-Corruption Department, Government Inspectorate, said that on June 27, the agency's working group will come to Yen Bai to announce the decision to conduct a surprise inspection of information related to the assets and land of Mr. Pham Sy Quy's family (Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Yen Bai).

According to Mr. Dat, Mr. Pham Sy Quy is the brother of Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra - Secretary of Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, so to ensure objectivity, the leaders of this province have requested the Central agencies to intervene and clarify.

"The inspection team will work with Mr. Pham Sy Quy and related departments on issues such as land use planning, policies, regimes, asset declaration... to see if related work is done in accordance with the law," said Mr. Dat.

In early June, the People's Committee of Yen Bai province issued a decision to inspect the conversion of land use purposes in Minh Tan ward, Yen Bai city; at the same time verify the compliance with the provisions of the land law; the granting of construction permits and construction management according to the permit for the land lot in group 42, 52 Minh Tan ward of the household of Ms. Hoang Thi Hue (wife of Mr. Pham Sy Quy).

Previously, the press reported on a complex of villas, stilt houses, suspension bridges, lakes... believed to be the private residence of the family of the Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Yen Bai province. Around July 2015, the province issued many decisions allowing the conversion of more than 13,000 m2 of production forest land, perennial crop land, and aquaculture land into residential land for Mr. Quy's family. The entire land is under the name of Ms. Hoang Thi Hue.

Mr. Pham Sy Quy confirmed that "the person whose name is on the land above is my wife", and said that his wife is in business and has personal assets with several sisters in the family. "The land was granted in 2015, everything is in accordance with legal procedures", Mr. Quy said.
