Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee met all day Sunday to review Mr. Tat Thanh Cang.
In response to voters' claims that Mr. Cang was slow to be punished, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council said that the process and authority must be followed under the Politburo.

In particular, Mr. Pham Ngoc Binh (Phuoc Binh ward) requested the National Assembly delegation to clarify the violations of former Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Huu Tin and Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang.
"Mr. Tin has been temporarily detained, and Mr. Cang has been convicted by the Central Inspection Commission.a violation so serious that it requires disciplinary actionbut was still scheduled to meet voters in District 10. What did the city do to handle it? Was this offensive?", Mr. Binh questioned.

On behalf of the National Assembly delegates, Chairwoman of the City People's Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam said that the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee always strictly adheres to not covering up violations and strictly handles violations according to the provisions of the law and the Party's Charter. Recently, a number of officials have been discovered to have committed violations through the supervision work of the People's Councils at all levels, the National Assembly delegations and there have also been some violations reported by the people.
After the Central Inspection Committee concluded on Mr. Tat Thanh Cang's violations, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held two meetings to review. There were issues that the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee directed to inspect, and there were new related issues that needed to be further reviewed and clarified.
"The Standing Committee of the City Party Committee met all day on Sunday, November 18 to review comrade Tat Thanh Cang and also concluded that disciplinary action was necessary," said Ms. Tam.
However, according to the Chairman of the City People's Council, the meeting result is only the opinion of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee. According to the procedure, Mr. Cang must also review with the City Party Committee. Next, the Party Committee will meet to vote on disciplining Mr. Cang. The City Party Committee will send the results to the Central Inspection Committee and the Politburo, and the handling of Mr. Cang is under the authority of the Politburo.
"We did the review of comrade Tat Thanh Cang very seriously and responsibly. The members of the Standing Committee expressed their opinions based on his contributions as well as his violations to conclude what his strengths and weaknesses were," said Ms. Tam.

Regarding the fact that Mr. Tat Thanh Cang violated the law but the City People's Council still sent him to meet voters, Ms. Tam explained: "He is in the process of being self-criticized, so he still has to meet voters according to his function as a City People's Council delegate. After the handling is completed, if he is dismissed from his position as a City People's Council delegate, Mr. Cang will no longer have this right."
Regarding the responsibility of the National Assembly Delegation and the City People's Council for recent violations, Ms. Tam admitted that there were things that had not been discovered or were discovered late.

On November 15, the Central Inspection Committee announced the conclusion of violations by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang in the principle of democratic centralism and regulations on project transfer.
Mr. Cang agreed in principle to allow Tan Thuan Company (100% capital of the City Party Committee Office) to transfer more than 320,000 m2 of land at the Phuoc Kien Residential Area project (Nha Be district) to Quoc Cuong Gia Lai Joint Stock Company. This is a beautiful land plot next to the Saigon River but was only sold at 1.29 million VND/m2, bringing in more than 419 billion VND to the budget.
In addition, while he was a member of the City Party Committee, a member of the City People's Committee, and Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, Mr. Cang violated regulations on land and construction investment management when approving the project and initialing the BT (build-transfer) contract with Dai Quang Minh Construction Investment Joint Stock Company to invest in the construction of four main roads in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area (District 2).
"Mr. Tat Thanh Cang's violations are very serious, causing outrage in society, greatly affecting the reputation of the City Party Committee, to the point that disciplinary action must be considered and taken," the announcement of the Central Inspection Committee stated.
