(Baonghean.vn) - The weather seemed to be cooperating; on New Year's Eve of the Year of the Snake 2013, Vinh City experienced cool, drizzling rain. As the transition from winter to spring, from the old year to the new, drew closer, the rain stopped. Crowds of people poured into the streets, joining in the joyful and lively activities to welcome the new year.
At 8 PM, along many main streets of Vinh City such as Phan Dinh Phung, Tran Phu, Nguyen Phong Sac, Truong Thi, Nguyen Du..., the sounds of drums filled the air as lion dance troupes paraded towards Ho Chi Minh Square to join the activities of the "New Year's Eve Celebration of the Year of the Snake 2013". This has also been a popular destination for many people in Vinh City and surrounding areas during their New Year's Eve celebrations in recent years. At 9:30 PM, Ho Chi Minh Square was filled with the colors of spring with a variety of flowers in bloom, drum performances, lion dances, martial arts demonstrations, dances, and songs like "Gentle Spring Colors," "Spring Love Song," and "Ageless Spring"... in a special art program themed "New Year's Eve Celebration" performed by professional and amateur art troupes in Vinh City.
Everyone present in the square was filled with excitement and anticipation for the sacred moment of welcoming the New Year under the Monument to Uncle Ho in the heroic Red City, hoping for a better year in the Year of the Snake. Mr. Nguyen Van Canh, after many years away from his homeland, was deeply moved and said: “My homeland has truly undergone many changes. The economy is improving, and the spiritual lives of the people are also being well cared for. The lively activities on New Year's Eve are a testament to this.” Mr. Christopher Topfer, a Frenchman also present in the square on New Year's Eve, shared: “The atmosphere of welcoming the Lunar New Year in Vinh City is not much different from the atmosphere of welcoming Christmas and New Year in my country.” "It's so moving, and this will be a memory I'll never forget in my life." At over 11 PM, spring was arriving, the air was cool, and a spring rain began to fall. But that didn't seem to bother most of those present at Ho Chi Minh Square; they lingered, waiting for the sacred moment of New Year's Eve in the solemn space beneath the Monument to Uncle Ho, wishing for a new year filled with new victories and new paths of development, all set to the music of spring.
As the New Year's Eve approaches, Vinh City becomes increasingly sacred and moving. On many main streets in Vinh City, such as Ho Tung Mau, Quang Trung, Lenin, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Truong Thi, Le Mao..., the atmosphere is filled with the dazzling and magical colors of streetlights and the bustling crowds of people celebrating the New Year. Many agencies and units located in Vinh City also organized New Year's Eve celebrations for their staff at their offices. At the Nghe An Newspaper office, staff, reporters, and employees solemnly offered incense and flowers before the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the office's traditional room. The staff, reporters, and employees of the Nghe An Newspaper were delighted to receive New Year's greetings from provincial leaders and expectations for continued innovation, development, and success in the Year of the Snake 2013, worthy of being the voice of the Party Committee, the government, and the forum of the people of Nghe An province.
Workers from Nghe An Urban Environment One-Member Limited Company continued to work diligently on the streets of Vinh City on New Year's Eve.
For the Nghe An Urban Environment One-Member Limited Company, on this New Year's Eve, more than 360 sanitation workers remained on duty, diligently working to keep the streets and alleys clean and beautiful. For the Nghe An Power Company, five working groups were dispatched to various power branches to encourage staff and workers to ensure the quality and safety of electricity services for the people.
As the new year approached, the sky over Vinh City was ablaze with fireworks. On Nghe An Television and Vietnam Television, the New Year's greetings from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ho Duc Phoc, and the President of Vietnam, Truong Tan Sang, were broadcast, filling everyone with joy and hope for a peaceful and successful new year!
