At the meeting, the Department of Planning and Investment presented a summary of South Korean investment results in Nghe An. At the provincial level, Nghe An province and Gyonggi province of South Korea established cooperative relations in 2008. At the city level, Vinh City and Namyangju City annually organize exchange programs, allowing students to visit each other. To date, there are 11 active foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the province with a registered capital of US$60.97 million, employing over 10,000 local workers. These include 5 export-oriented textile and garment projects with a total investment of US$24.17 million; a Hitech BSE Vietnam factory for manufacturing electronic components and telecommunications equipment with a total investment of US$30 million; and a banana plantation and export project covering 200 hectares in Vien Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district) with an investment of US$3 million. The project for an amusement park and entertainment services on Cua Lo beach has an investment of 0.25 million USD...

Currently, to promote the attraction of Korean businesses and investors to Nghe An province in the fields of supporting industries, mechanics, electronics, refrigeration, and other areas based on the strengths of both sides, the province has been coordinating with the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and KOTRA to plan and organize a conference to promote Korean investment in Nghe An province, scheduled for July 12, 2013 in Hanoi. At the conference, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and KOTRA will also sign a cooperation agreement to promote Korean investment in Nghe An province.

After hearing the report from the Department of Planning and Investment, representatives of Korean investors expressed many opinions, considering this the best opportunity to exchange and express some of the aspirations and concerns of businesses during their operations. In general, the investment projects are basically progressing on schedule, but there are still obstacles related to land, transportation infrastructure, electricity supply, land clearance, and social insurance procedures.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien received and directly addressed the feedback and instructed relevant departments, agencies, and units in the province to incorporate the feedback and promptly resolve difficulties for investors as soon as possible. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and thanked the Korean businesses for their effective investments in Nghe An, contributing to socio-economic development and improving the lives of the province's people.
